Carbon Hill High School, built in 1936, is located on an eighteen-acre campus one half mile from Highway 78. It has an enrollment of approximately 400 students. It has been part of the Walker County School system since 1993. It offers a varied curriculum designed to meet the needs of all its students, including those preparing for college and those who expect to attend technical or occupational training. The class sizes are kept at 29 students or less, and each staff member is teaching in his/her major or minor field.

Carbon Hill High School's purpose is to provide for the growth and development of all students so that they may attain their greatest potential. The goal of Carbon Hill High School is to provide the environment, guidance, and knowledge required to become productive adults.
