Miniatures fly in Banks
BANKS — Get a jump on the Oregon International Air Show this coming weekend by attending an air show of miniature flyers.
The Oregon Miniature Aircraft Squadron will hold its 30th annual Radio-Controlled Model Aircraft Air Show Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 13-14, at the OMAS flying field, Lewis Farm, 46100 NW Strohmayer Road, in Banks.
The field includes a 35- by 450-foot paved runway, a six-acre lake, clubhouse, sanitary facilities and a shaded picnic area.
OMAS and other club flyers will demonstrate a wide variety of RC aircraft that make it one of the fastest growing hobbies in the world.
The air show will feature scale models, warbirds, EDF jets, helicopters, electric planes, giant scale aerobatics, combat, and unique flying aircraft.
Experienced RC flyers from other clubs with AMA card are encouraged to come and fly their aircraft. There will be a pilot’s raffle for flyers.
The event runs 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
A parking donation of $5 per car is requested. Proceeds from the event help defer the annual lease for the flying field.
