Great skiing Saturday in the Bob Barton slalom tournament. Paul Helbock returned to the scene in full force, running 35 off in all three rounds! Ryan Fitzpatrick and Carol Brooks also posted PB’s for the season. Nice skiing everyone!  See all results

Other Updates from Scott: I hope everyone enjoyed the July/August Newsletter highlighting the success our Canyon Lake Women skiers have enjoyed at the Western Regionals and recently at the US National Championships. Guys, we need to step it up! Cudos to our Editor and Chief, Al Van, on another great Newsletter. Let us know if you didn’t receive one.

In all, Canyon Lake Ski Club had 14 skiers participate in the Regional Championships held in Rio Linda, CA. (Sacramento) The Canyon Lake Women hauled in 15 medals including a 1st Overall for Krista Rogers and 2 second Overalls (Laura Johnson and Diana Olson) and a 3rd Overall by Carol Brooks.

This past week, we had 6 Skiers competing in the US National Championships outside Chicago IL. Canyon Lake again was well represented as “National Champion” Steven Brooks took 1st Overall in Boys 3 (his last year in the division as he is headed to Arizona State University). We also had medalists in W1 (Krista Rogers 3rd Overall, 1st in Jump) and Diana Olson (4th Overall).

Pat Rogers, Driver Extraordinaire, was Assistant Chief Driver for both the Regional and National Championships. He logged a lot of hours in the boats and pulled many high pressure “nail biter” events. Pat is now headed to France to pull the Under 21 World Championships.

Laura Johnson played an important role in the Regional Championships as she was the Chief Scorer for the event.

Developing Future Champions: A HUGE thank you, (pun intended), goes out to our crack training corps who completed the 3rd and final “Learn to Ski Day” on August 3rd. Including the June 15th and July 13th Learn to Ski Days, we had 85 skiers of all levels particpate and develop their skills in waterskiing. Several came back for further instruction. This is a wonderful way that our club gives back to this great community and helps to develop future waterski champions.
